On Tuesday, July 9th, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing entitled “Closing the Justice Gap: How to Make the Civil Justice System Accessible to All Americans.” This marked the first such hearing in over 15 years.
Nikole Nelson, Frontline Justice CEO, testified alongside Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Nathan Hecht, Frontline Justice’s National Leadership Council Member; Ron Flagg, President of the Legal Services Corporation; and Veronica Gonzalez, a former legal aid client who now sits on the board of directors of Legal Aid Chicago.

Frontline Justice is excited to announce the Grand Opening of the Frontline Justice Community Cafe Series on May 28th - a virtual space for us to come together to share joys and concerns and to strengthen community ties.
Frontline Justice (www.frontlinejustice.org) is seeking proposals from qualified social innovation firms to help it design and develop an innovation platform and conduct user research and design aimed at scaling and sustaining community justice worker innovations in the United States, with a focus on reducing barriers and increasing opportunities for economic mobility among people with low incomes.

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Legal Aid Interagency Roundtable has issued a report titled "Access to Justice in Federal Administrative Proceedings" which highlights non-lawyer assistance as a key strategy to increase access to justice in the United States. The report spotlights Alaska's Community Justice Worker Program as a model for expanding high-quality non-lawyer assistance.
