Upcoming Community Cafe Event with Jaycee Uchida, Senior Staff Attorney at Legal Aid of Hawaii

Dear Frontline Justice Community,

Thank you all so much for joining us for last week's Community Café! We were joined by the wonderful Kate Crowley Richardson, Co-Executive Director of Legal Link, in our conversation on community justice worker recruitment and collaboration strategies for organizations at varying stages of growth.

Our next Community Café event will take place on August 6th from 11:30AM to 1:00 PM PT / 2:30 to 4:00 PM EST. We invite you to RSVP by filling out this Zoom registration link. Following your positive feedback regarding the event’s format, we will feature a guest speaker, Jaycee Uchida, Senior Staff Attorney at Legal Aid of Hawaiʻi, who will tell us about Hawai'i's unique and promising Rural Paternity Advocate program. We will also have opportunities for small group discussion and networking.

The Rural Paternity Advocate program is a pilot project recently authorized by the Hawaiʻi Supreme Court that allows a qualified Advocate employed by the LAS of Hawaiʻi to appear in family court under the supervision of a licensed attorney in certain paternity, child custody, and visitation matters. This will be a unique opportunity to learn directly from a Justice Worker program at a critical stage of expansion.

If you or someone you know might be interested in presenting at a future Community Café, please send your ideas to info@frontlinejustice.org. We look forward to hearing from all of you soon!

Best,

Frontline Justice Team
