A CJW is a trained individual, recruited from trusted roles in the community (such as social workers, teachers, librarians, and faith leaders), who provides limited legal support to people facing civil legal issues. This role serves as a scalable solution to the civil access to justice crisis by empowering people in existing community roles to address civil legal needs where allowed by state and federal law.
