We are incredibly excited to announce that Dr. Alicia Mitchell-Mercer has joined Frontline Justice as our Chief Operations Officer. With 20 years in the legal field and over a decade in project management, Alicia is a well-known and dedicated advocate for the need to expand the universe of people who can provide legal help. With 20 years in the legal field and over a decade in project management, she previously led transformative projects at Lex Project Management Consulting Group, collaborating with corporate legal departments, state agencies, and litigation firms. She also worked as a legal project manager for a North and South Carolina litigation firm and served as a FINRA securities arbitrator.
Alicia completed a Doctorate of Public Administration from California Baptist University, focusing on public policy, civil access to justice, and regulatory reform, and a Master of Science in Project Management at Missouri State University, where she studied the nexus between engineering economics, legal project management, and value-based billing. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), and Legal Project Practitioner (LPP).
A dedicated advocate, Alicia has served on the North Carolina Bar Association's Internet & Regulations Task Force (2016-2018) and the North Carolina State Bar Regulatory Reform Subcommittee (2021-2022). She was a Special Advisor to the North Carolina Equal Access to Justice Commission (2023) and is a commission member (2024-2026). She volunteers as the Director of Strategic Projects and a Policy Analyst for the North Carolina Justice for All Project (2019-present). Since 2014, she has championed the rights of abused, neglected, and dependent children as a Guardian ad Litem for the North Carolina Judicial Branch. Her contributions have been recognized with multiple awards, including the North Carolina Judicial Branch Service Award (2020, 2021) and the North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society (2022, 2023).
